Six hours before National Lacrosse League free agency was set to start (originally scheduled for August 1st), the NLL and National Lacrosse League Players Association (previously Professional Lacrosse Players Association) issued a joint statement on social media confirming that while the two sides continue to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement, they would push the start of free agency to Saturday, August 6th.

The statement in full reads:

The NLL and the NLLPA continue to negotiate in good faith to reach an agreement on a successor Collective Bargaining Agreement. The business of the League will continue to progress without cessation, with the Free Agency signing period to now begin on August 6.
