The National Lacrosse League has announced that the 2022 NLL Entry Draft will take place on Saturday, September 10 at 2pm ET at The Carlu in Downtown Toronto.

The draft, which had been virtual the past two seasons and hosted at Xfinity Live! in Philadelphia for two years prior to the pandemic, had regularly taken place in the Greater Toronto Area for many years at venues like the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre, the Westin Harbour Castle, and even an intimate lounge within the Air Canada Centre back in 2002.

The venue, as described on the The Carlu’s website:

Originally opened in 1930 as “Eaton’s Seventh Floor,” The Carlu was designed by French architect Jacques Carlu. In 2003, the space was reopened as “The Carlu” event venue after an extensive restoration. Now recognized as one of Toronto’s best examples of Art Moderne architecture, The Carlu has been designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. As the preferred space for high profile weddings, social fetes, conventions and corporate celebrations, this one-of-a-kind event venue has played host to royalty on several occasions.

Located at the intersection of Yonge & College, The Carlu is a short walk from the old Maple Leaf Gardens on Carlton Street, the original home of the Toronto Rock. The arena is now part of the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

The league will later confirm broadcast details regarding the draft, which will be open to the public, free of charge, with seating for 400 at The Carlu.

The NLL also confirmed the order of an extremely confusing first round backfilled with several compensatory selections. The first round will include a total of 23 picks across the league’s 15 teams, in what is easily the longest opening round in NLL history.

The Rochester Knighthawks will select first overall after swapping a combination of picks & players during the Las Vegas Desert Dogs Expansion Draft back in early July.
