The 2024 Major Series Lacrosse Entry Draft took place on Sunday, January 21 at the Toronto Rock Athletics Centre in Oakville, Ontario.

The MSL, which saw the recent return of the Oakville Rock as well as the emergence of an expansion entry in Owen Sound under the city’s well-rooted North Stars brand, will have seven teams competing during their upcoming 2024 season: Oakville, Owen Sound, Brampton Excelsiors, Brooklin Lacrosse Club, Cobourg Kodiaks, Peterborough Lakers, and the defending Mann Cup champions Six Nations Chiefs.

Just a week earlier, the TRAC hosted the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League Entry Draft.

With the first overall pick in this year’s draft, the North Stars nabbed Orangeville Northmen netminder Chris Origlieri, who is also currently starting for the National Lacrosse League’s San Diego Seals.

This past Ontario Junior Lacrosse League season, Origlieri was named the league’s Most Valuable Player (Green Gaels Trophy), Most Outstanding Player (Jim Veltman Award), Most Valuable Goalie (Sanderson Memorial Award), and alongside teammate Zach Richards, owned Ontario’s lowest GAA (Robert Melville Memorial Award).

Origlieri also played a lead role in the Northmen’s record-matching 20-0 OJLL regular season.

While the Northmen in total had six players selected from this past year’s roster, the Minto Cup champion Burlington Blaze had the most talent taken in this year’s draft with nine. The Toronto Beaches saw a second-best seven players drafted this past Sunday at the TRAC.
