Easton Luoma selected first overall by Saskatchewan in RMLL Junior A Draft

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League held their 2024 Junior A Draft on February 5 at the Acadia Recreation Complex in Calgary, Alberta.

For the second straight year, the Saskatchewan SWAT have held the first overall selection, taking Easton Luoma at #1 this past Monday evening.

“I am extremely honoured to be drafted #1 by the Saskatchewan SWAT,” Luoma told The Lax Mag. “I will continue to work hard and I am excited to see where my lacrosse journey will take me.”

The Kitchener-Waterloo Lacrosse Club drafted Noah Candy 1st overall in the 2024 OJLL Entry Draft and the New Westminster Salmonbellies took Riley Alexander #1 in the BCJALL.

Luoma had a standout performance for Team Sask during last summer’s Nationals. The lanky and offensively lethal Luoma has excelled playing both box and field lacrosse, possessing a dangerous outside shot as well as strong finishing ability in tight.

The SWAT have finished last in the RMLL during the last two summers, averaging by far the fewest goals per game in the four-team league. Easton’s brother, Mason, was one of just two Saskatchewan players to finish Top 20 in RMLL Junior A point production during the 2023 regular season.
